After earning his PhD in Theological Studies, James spent more than a decade in higher education serving as a Vice President and Academic Dean over online and residential schools. He continues to work as a higher education consultant in the areas of online programming and enrollment management.

Gregg Quiggle

PhD | Professor of History and Theology

Gregg earned his PhD from Open University in 2010 having completed an MA’s in Historical Theology at Marquette and Theological Studies with an emphasis in Church History from Wheaton College. Gregg served as the D. L. Moody Professor of Historical Theology at Moody Bible Institute from 1987-2023. He also ran MBI’s study abroad program and continues to run various tours including those focusing on the Reformation in Germany and Switzerland, New Testament Sites in Greece, and Old and New Testament Sites in Israel.

Ashish Varma, PhD

Professor of Theological Studies

Ashish earned his PhD from Wheaton College in 2017 having completed an MA in Theological Studies at Wheaton in 2009 and an MA in History of Christianity in 2007. He is a member of the American Philosophical Association and American Academy of Religion. He has written for the Barth Center, as well as various other publications.

Rebekah Josberger, PhD

Affiliate Professor in Old Testament

Dr. Josberger is passionate about Old Testament studies and biblical languages, particularly Hebrew. Her goal is for students to learn to read and understand the Word for themselves, whether in Hebrew or English, so that they better know its Author. Her work focuses on helping the church to understand the role of Torah as an invitation to know God by imitating his character. This work builds on the findings of her dissertation, “Between Rule and Responsibility: The Role of the Father as Agent of Righteousness in Deuteronomy’s Domestic Ideology.”

Shane J. Wood, PhD

Affiliate Faculty of New Testament

Shane completed his PhD. from the University of Edinburgh (UK) and published his dissertation entitled: The Alter-Imperial Paradigm: Empire Studies &the Book of Revelation (BINTS 140; Leiden: Brill). Most recently, Shane published his widely acclaimed book Between Two Trees: Our Transformation from Death to Life (Abilene, TX: Leafwood), receiving endorsements from Scot McKnight, Leonard Sweet, Michael Gorman, Mark Moore, Richard Rohr, Kyle Idleman, and many more. In addition, Shane was recognized by Theology Degrees Online as one of the “100 Remarkable Professors & Scholars Theology Students Should Know About.” He was also a featured scholar in Playing with Fire: A Modern Investigation into Demons, Exorcism, and Ghosts by Billy Hallowell (Pureflix.com, Faithwire.com, and TheBlaze) and in (the expanded and updated) Sacred Pathways: Nine Ways to Connect with God by Gary Thomas. Shane’s other publications include: Dragons, John, and Every Grain of Sand: Essays on the Book of Revelation(Joplin, MO: College Press) and “God’s Triumphal Procession: Re-examining the Release of Satan in the Light of Roman Imperial Imagery (Revelation 20:7-10)” in Currents in British Research on the Apocalypse (Tübingen: Mohr Siebeck). Shane and his family are now living in Joplin, MO where he is Professor of New Testament & Its Origins at Ozark Christian College.
